About OnlineQRCodeGen

Welcome to OnlineQRCodeGen.com — a free, browser-based platform for generating, scanning, and decoding QR codes and barcodes. We built this site with one goal: give individuals and businesses a fast, private, and completely free way to work with QR codes without installing apps or creating accounts.

Since launching, OnlineQRCodeGen has served hundreds of thousands of users across more than 80 countries — from small business owners adding QR codes to their business cards, to developers testing QR code output, to everyday users who need to scan a QR code from a screenshot without a second phone.

Our Mission

QR codes have become an essential part of everyday life — on restaurant menus, product packaging, payment terminals, event tickets, and marketing materials. Yet most QR code tools online are cluttered with paywalls, require sign-ups, or limit how many codes you can generate.

Our mission is to change that. Every tool on OnlineQRCodeGen is completely free, requires no account, and places no watermark on your downloads. We believe access to basic digital tools should not come with a subscription fee.

What We Offer

OnlineQRCodeGen provides a comprehensive suite of QR code and barcode tools, all free and accessible directly in your browser:

QR Code Generators

Create QR codes for any data type instantly. Our generators support URL QR codes for websites and links, vCard QR codes for digital business cards, WiFi QR codes to share network credentials, WhatsApp QR codes for instant messaging, email QR codes, SMS QR codes, phone number QR codes, plain text QR codes, geo-location QR codes, UPI payment QR codes, and Google Review QR codes. All generators let you download the QR code as PNG or SVG.

QR Code Scanners

Our online QR code scanner lets you decode QR codes using your device's camera in real time — no app required. You can also scan a QR code from an uploaded image (PNG, JPG, or JPEG), which is especially useful when you've received a QR code by WhatsApp, email, or screenshot and need to decode it without a second device.

Barcode Tools

Beyond QR codes, we provide a free barcode generator supporting Code 128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, ITF, and other standard barcode formats. Our camera barcode scanner and barcode scanner from image cover all major 1D and 2D barcode types, making our tools useful for retail, logistics, and healthcare professionals who need to decode barcodes from product labels, shipping documents, or scanned PDFs.

Privacy-First by Design

All QR code generation and scanning on OnlineQRCodeGen happens directly in your browser. QR code data is never sent to our servers — when you enter a WiFi password, vCard details, or UPI ID into our generator, that data is processed locally and never transmitted or stored.

Similarly, when you upload an image to scan a QR code or barcode, the image stays entirely on your device. Our scanners use client-side JavaScript libraries to decode barcodes locally, with no server upload occurring at any point. This is particularly important when the QR code contains sensitive information such as passwords, payment details, or personal contact data.

Who Uses OnlineQRCodeGen?

Our tools are used daily by a wide range of people:

Small business owners use our vCard and URL QR code generators to add scannable codes to business cards, storefronts, and menus. Restaurants and cafés create WiFi QR codes so customers can join the guest network without asking for the password. Event organisers generate QR codes for registration links, schedules, and digital tickets. Teachers and trainers create QR codes that link to lesson resources, YouTube videos, or Google Forms. Developers use our scanner to test and verify QR code output during development and QA. Individuals scan QR codes from screenshots — a payment QR code, a contact received over WhatsApp, or a boarding pass saved as an image.

Learn About QR Codes

Our QR Code Learning Hub contains free guides covering everything from the basics — what a QR code is and how QR codes work — to practical advice on QR code best practices, QR code security, and how businesses can use QR codes for marketing and operations.

Our QR Code Blog covers specific use cases in more detail — including how to create QR codes for WhatsApp, Google Maps, email, UPI payments, and business cards, as well as when to choose a static vs dynamic QR code and how to scan QR codes from images on any device.
